ACTUAL PROBLEMS AND OPTIONS FOR THEIR SOLUTIONS IN THE PREPARATION OF UNDERGRADUATES IN THE DIRECTION «APPLIED INFORMATICS IN METALLURGY»

Master’s degree as a new educational phenomenon has more than twenty years of experience in implementation in the Russian educational space. The need of the state and society for the preparation of undergraduates in multilevel education is indicated in the National Doctrine of Education in the Russian Federation until 2025. However, as Professor A.S. Robotova, at present the problems of the master’s level of education have not been sufficiently understood, which requires additional research and determines the relevance of this work. The relevance of continuing engineering education «bachelor’s-master’s» is emphasized in studies. The purpose of this article is to highlight the problems of master’s education and develop options for their solutions based on the analysis of the experience of a specific program «Applied Informatics in Metallurgy», which is distinguished by its integrative specificity, implemented at the Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Materials Science of the Siberian Federal University. The article attempts to answer important organizational and substantive questions, formulated as research tasks to be solved. The study was based on the methodology of systemic, activity-based, personality-oriented and competence-based approaches when using tests, questionnaires, advertising materials, electronic resources, which made it possible to take into account the student’s personality, create the possibility of building an individual educational route, and adjust the educational process, if necessary. Used psychological and pedagogical literature on the topic of research, general scientific methods of pedagogical research. The research resulted in decisions on topical organizational and substantive issues of master’s education, which are universal in nature for different areas of training, related to the recruitment of motivated master’s students for a specific program; harmonious synthesis in the content of the invariant and variable blocks of the program to ensure the «alignment» of the basic foundations of students, taking into account the differences in their training; the definition of conditions that increase the reliability and objectivity of assessing the level of competence formation undergraduates.
