The problem of the formation of a holistic worldview of high school students and their preparation for future professional activities is considered. A solution to the problem is proposed by studying the elements of the theory of ordinary differential equations in the system of additional education on the basis of a practice-oriented approach using the method of mathematical modeling. Methodological support for solving the problem under consideration has been developed. The factual and task material of a practice-oriented nature is given, the method of working with it is described. The authors dwelled on two methodological ways of solving the problem: conducting laboratory and practical work and organizing excursions. Unfortunately, these forms of work do not receive enough attention in general education schools. The reasons for this phenomenon are listed. Situations are described that favor the compilation of practical tasks by the students themselves with the subsequent solution and attention to the content of economic, physical, financial, chemical and other terms encountered in the texts. The plots of the tasks are close to schoolchildren and are taken from their life in their family and the lives of families of acquaintances, from the activities of parents and small businesses in their region. The results of the questionnaire survey and sections of knowledge of senior pupils of the control and experimental groups are described. The conclusion is made about the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed technique.
