In the presented article, by anonymous voluntary questioning of 238 respondents, the results of the USE were studied and their relationship with the progress of medical students at various courses of study – junior and senior – was determined. A high competitive score based on the USE results was determined for applicants applying for admission to the specialty «General Medicine» and «Dentistry». Considering the categories of applicants’ admission to a university, a high average USE score was established for those enrolled in a free competition at the expense of the federal budget. Those enrolled in higher professional education at the expense of budgetary funds have targeted admission and out-of-competition enrollment, the competitive USE score is lower than that of the previous group. Analysis of the dynamics of student performance from the first to the final year showed a relationship with the USE indicators. As students grow up in senior courses, the number of students in the range of 4.1-5.0 points increases, this is especially significant for students of the medical faculty. The data obtained allow us to speak about the objectivity of the Unified State Exam as a system used for selecting applicants for higher medical education. Differences in the competitiveness of faculties and categories of applicants for admission to a university, which is carried out through separate competitions, are revealed. A personalized and integrated approach on the part of dean’s offices and departments is necessary in relation to students of targeted admission and out-of-competition enrollment, as well as to students in junior courses who succeed in the range of 3.0-3.5 points and have a high personal USE rating, which will make it possible to differentiate «risk group»on academic performance.
